Ice Bucket Challenge

The Kanza Wellness Center took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Aug. 22 to raise money to fight ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Through Sept. 22, anyone visiting the Kanza Wellness Center can donate to the ALS Foundation and receive a free one-day pass.

Kanza Wellness Center Manager Shannon Smykil said that she was inspired to take the challenge after hearing Life Fitness Founder Augie Nieto at the Idea World Fitness Conference speak about his struggle with ALS and mission to support research and find a cure for the disease.
