Sometimes when we are waiting on someone to start a job or just have a vacancy that needs to be filled for a short period of time we need someone to fill in the basic parts of the job.  The Kaw Members who depend on the services of the Kaw Nation sometimes have to wait for the permanent new hires and we want  our tribal members to start the process as soon as possible.

These positions will be short-term and temporary.  Pay rates, days and hours will vary based on the duties of the position.  All available members who would like to do these fill-in positions would have an interview to place them where they are best suited and comfortable working when needs arise.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Background Investigator (Vendor)/Office Assistant

Immediate Supervisor: Gaming Commissioner

Location: Kaw City

Full Time/ Regular

Qualifications:

Qualifications: (FULL TIME) The Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate should possess good computer and communication skills and strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The candidate must have report writing skills and be familiar with Tribal, Federal and State laws regarding Indian Gaming, and criminal records. The applicant must have one year of office experience. The applicant must not have a criminal record and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications: College coursework or an Associate’s degree. Possess some knowledge of the criminal and civil court systems and previous experience searching databases.

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete background investigations on all vendors, principals, and vendor techs referred from the gaming facilities.
  • Prepare, provide, and maintain all vendor license applications and renewals pursuant to the 2016 Kaw Nation Gaming Ordinance and gaming compact.
  • Search databases and perform electronic fingerprinting.
  • Document and prepare complete and accurate reports with all the facts.
  • The applicant must meet all deadlines that are set forth for each part of the job.
  • Assist with employee licensing investigations and renewals as needed.
  • May assist in supply ordering, sorting and delivering.
  • May assist in receiving and greeting the public, routing callers and making badges.

TITLE: LIBRARIAN/LEARNING CENTER DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Library Sciences or a related field of study, prefer a graduate degree and/or administrative experience including appropriate computer skills in a Windows environment.   Relevant education, training or experience may substitute. Must be able to set priorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and to establish good personal relations with other workers and the public.  Must be able to pass a background check, drug test, and maintain such status, as well as possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be and continue to be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES:

This position will be responsible for the management, supervision and administration of the Kaw Nation Learning Center in addition to all aspects of library operations, including providing library administration and performing all related library service, its staff and its patrons. Duties shall include the following:

Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with Tribal members, staff and local community members. Coordinate departmental involvement in grant applications and pursuing additional funding for the learning center, develop relationships with and be a liaison to the community and local school systems.

  • Responsible for implementation and monitoring of all program objectives and activities. Prepare annual budget, monitor budget to ensure expenditures remain in consistent with program objectives and work timeline and are incompliance with any and all grant provision.
  • Perform standard daily library duties; selection, acquisition, cataloguing, classifying, circulating, preparation, organization and maintenance of library materials and periodicals, which includes maintaining proper records for loaned materials, sorting and shelving materials, inspecting and repairing materials if or when damaged.
  • Assist and direct library patrons with questions, research and requests, in the use of reference materials and computer assisted research; answer and manage incoming telephone calls; respond, manage and/or refer as appropriate, inquiries and requests from library patrons, the public, media, business contacts, vendors, and representatives from other organizations, as may be necessary.
  • Administer library programs, policies, and procedures, handle inter-library loan requests, prepare invoiced, and perform routine coding and cataloging of library materials and retrieve information from computer databases. Loan and collect books, periodicals, videotapes and other library materials to and from library patrons.
  • Perform any and all other reasonable duties as assigned by the immediate and/or controlling supervisor.

This position is funded through a federally funded grant.  In the event of a Federal Government shutdown, or for any reason we are unable to draw down the Federal Grant monies, this position will be furloughed until such time as the Federal Grant monies are again available.  In the event this grant ends, there is no guarantee of continued employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associates degree in social sciences or a related field preferred.  Candidate must have experience in advocacy with adults and knowledge of family violence issues, experience navigating the legal field and public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information.  Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word.  Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.  Preference given to candidate who has experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health or substance abuse.  Advocacy experience with adults and/or children highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Serve as a domestic violence and sexual assault advocate for the Kaw Nation Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program, and initiate a coordinated community response initiatives for Native Americans in Kay County.  Also serve as a court advocate for the Kaw Nation domestic violence court, and initiate a coordinated community response initiatives for the Native Americans in Kay County.
  2. Confer with Kaw Nation Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program staff and Domestic Violence Prevention Coalition concerning domestic violence policies and victim needs.  Provide program reports on a quarterly basis or as needed.
  3. Ensure victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence or stalking have legal representation and other needed direct services.
  4. Maintain client confidentiality.  Develop data tracking system which preserves that confidentiality.
  5. Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and other awareness efforts or training events, as needed.  Also participate in Court Planning Partner Meetings and other awareness efforts or training events, as needed.
  6. Locate and adapt domestic violence materials for culturally-relevant program use.
  7. Perform specific record-keeping, report writing, project planning, and related project procedures.
  8. Directly assists and provides services to victims of crime as well as respond to crisis calls as needed.

This person must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time experience in a child care setting.  Child Development Associate (CDA) or Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) or relevant training and experience are preferred.  Applicant must be willing to obtain his/her CDA/CCP.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Age Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children placed into his/her care.  The School Age Coordinator must promote the Kanza Child Care Center (KCCC) in a positive way to parents and the community.

Provide classroom management.  Maintain classroom record-keeping that may include attendance, meal counts, and daily/weekly progress reports to parents.  Develop and implement weekly lesson plans including learning and implementing the Kaw Nation Langauge into the center.  Maintain client confidentiality.  Attend local, state, regional and national child care meetings/training when deemed appropriate.  Responsible for keeping classroom clean.  Transport children to and from school, field trips, etc.  Complete any other duties as assigned by the immediate or controlling supervisor.

Job Purpose:
The Operations Manager will oversee and ensure day to day efficient operation of the store. The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining inventory control, product pricing, staff performance and financial management in full accordance with internal and external policies and procedures. In addition the incumbent in this position is responsible to promote positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient service.

Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Minimum of one year experience in a related position in the convenience or Smoke Shop areas.   4. Work closely with tribal police, tribal court, Oklahoma Children Authority, state courts, and other service providers to implement prevention and intervention services.
  5. Maintain goals and objectives as identified in the Children’s Justice Program Grant.
  6. Provide case management services to child victims and their families, including home-based and referral services.
  7. Perform other related duties as may be required by immediate supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PHYSICIAN

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school and be licensed as a physician in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control to prescribe and administer Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.

At least two (2) years’ experience in general/family practice is preferred.  Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred.  Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice medicine.  Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred.  Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physician is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:

  1. Provide physician services to patients of the Kanza Health Center including physical examinations, perform and/or order diagnostic procedures, interpret and evaluate test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings to identify the presence of disease and/or disability.
  2. Document all patient services and treatment plans in RPMS Electronic Health Records in a timely manner.
  3. Comply with all appropriate requirements for clinic quality assurance and certification.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and manage specific illnesses and disease processes.
  5. Perform minor in-patient procedures consistent with training, competency, and privileges. Oversee patient adherence to medical and nursing regimens for stable chronically ill patients and adjust treatment plans.
  6. Provide supervision for all ambulatory clinic nurses.
  7. Provide medical director services to all components of the Kaw Health System.
  8. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
  9. Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor.
