We are pleased to announce that Tajé Sage (hard wind,) a group of young people from Newkirk and Kaw City, traveled to the Sam Noble Museum in Norman, Oklahoma to participate in the 16th Annual Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair. Our kids performed in Kaáze Íe (Kaw language) in three categories; Individual Prayer, Small Group Traditional Song, and Large Group Modern Song, winning first place for Modern Song!
All of the children worked very hard and we are quite proud of their efforts. They are all looking forward to returning next year for more language fun! We thank the Kaw Nation School Age Enrichment Center, the Administration for Native Americans, and the Kaw Nation for making this possible. Wíblaha?! (thank you!)
If you have any questions about our classes, would like to enroll in one, or have an inquiry about the language program in general, please do not hesitate to contact us: 580.269.2739
All of our classes are free and open to the public.
