Kaw Nation owns 800 acres at Chilocco, one-tenth of the total area. On its land, Kaw Nation leases to business entities such as ranching and grazing.
Kaw Nation, along with three other Chilocco tribes, is partnering with PNE Wind on a wind farm. Twelve wind turbines will be placed on the Kaw land at Chilocco. Construction began in December. The turbines are expected to be posted this summer.
Also, the site of the Chilocco Cemetery is on the Kaw land. A 2003 survey found 15 remains in the cemetery.
