KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: NURSE PRACTITIONER

JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME/REGULAR

LOCATION: KANZA CLINIC, NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner’s program that meets the Oklahoma State requirements for licensure.  (Master’s degree equivalent in Family or Women’s Health).  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Candidate must have intermediate math skills and problem solving abilities.  The candidate must possess an Oklahoma State Nursing license, National Nurse Practitioner Certification, currently certified in CPR and possess a valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities include providing medical care and treatments according to credentials and privileges either in a clinical setting or through public health services, maintaining records, participating on committees, and upholding ethical standards.

  1. Provides medical care according to credentials held by employee.
  2. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures.
  3. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs, as well as case management.
  4. Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient’s condition.
  5. Refers patients to Physician for consultation or specialized health resources for treatment when warranted.
  6. Case Management, creating, walking patients through the process, and handling follow-ups.
  7. Evaluates emergencies and renders lifesaving procedures.
  8. Participates in committee activities, community activities, and education activities.
  9. Participates or chairs assigned committee meetings.
  10. Participates in community health fairs.
  11. Provides education to schools and/or community organizations.
  12. Maintains certification requirements.
  13. Assures patient referrals handled in a timely manner.
  14. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  15. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to present information and respond to questions from various groups.
  16. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  17. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule forms.
  18. Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds.
  19. Carries out directives of their respective responsibilities as prescribed by the Immediate or Controlling Supervisor.

This position is funded through a federally funded grant.  In the event of a Federal Government shutdown, or for any reason we are unable to draw down the Federal Grant monies, this position will be furloughed until such time as the Federal Grant monies are again available.  In the event this grant ends, there is no guarantee of continued employment.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Dental Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Dental Assistant Certification preferred.  A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required, and prefer a minimum of one (1) year experience in a dental or health care environment or related field.  Office experience and competent computer skills required.  Ability to relate and interact with patients in a professional, friendly and polite manner. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to multi task and work with minimum supervision. Prefer candidate to have some experience in billing and insurance processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Greet and care for all patients and visitors to the practice in a polite and courteous manner at all times.
  2. Schedule appointments and monitor the appointments to maximize available
  3. appointment time.
  4. Make copies of CDIB, Insurance Cards, and Driver’s License to be placed in the patient’s file. Ensure that all notes and information are available to coincide with appointments and patient’s information and medical/dental history is up-to-date.
  5. Deal with inquiries both in person and on the telephone in a polite and professional manner.
  6. Make courtesy calls to avoid “patient no show” concerning their appointments.
  7. Prepares the exam room and equipment according to sterile and clean technique guidelines before every treatment of a patient.
  8. Follows the instructions of the dentist.
  9. Takes oral x-rays and instructs patients in good oral hygiene and follow-up care as instructed by the dentist.
  10. Obtains patient’s history and maintains up-to-date patient dental records.
  11. Schedules patient’s appointments for dental procedures.
  12. Keeps the dental office, equipment, and dental instruments clean, sterilized, and prepared for dental procedures.
  13. Stocks and organizes supplies and cleans the dental laboratory.
  14. Process billing and file insurance for dental appointments and procedures.

TITLE: ICW/PSSF Caseworker

The Kaw Nation ICW Program is seeking a Full-Time Indian Child Welfare and Promoting Safe and Stable Families assistant.  The position will require a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act and Family Services Act, case planning and case management experience, a working knowledge of court intervention cases in both Tribal and State Court, and familiar with community tribal resources for families.

Qualifications:

Preferred, but not require; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field.  Applicant must have three (3) years field experience in Social Services work in the public or private sector.   Must have a basic knowledge of Windows 7 or greater, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.   Must be able to work in diverse situations and atmospheres related to family function.  Also, must be able to work as a team player and maintain professionalism at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business Administration or a related field of study desired.  Incumbent must have 2 to 3 years hands-on tribal Management experience with experience in federal program administration and reporting. Must possess working knowledge of tribal governmental structures and organizations. Must be able to communicate effectively with tribal members, tribal officials and government officials for accomplishing tribal goals and objectives. Must be capable of developing budget (s) and monitoring budget (s) for compliance.

Incumbent must have some comprehension of real estate management and applicable real estate laws effecting individual and tribal trust properties, assets, and Bureau of Indian Affairs reporting requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Directs and coordinates day-to-day operations as assistant to and under the direction of the Tribal Chair.
  2. Ensures federal regulations/policies are followed by all federal programs administered by the Kaw Nation Executive Council.
  3. Supervises and coordinates administrative actions and personnel of the Administrative Services Department.
  4. Must keep abreast of federal agency regulations, programs, and policies to assist the Tribal Chair in making decisions, evaluations, and recommendations on programs available to Indian Tribes.
  5. Reports to the Tribal Chair any major problems or potential problems spotted in the area of administration requiring attention and recommending possible solutions.
  6. Assists in preparing tentative budget plans to assure adherence to Tribal goals insofar as personnel, fiscal, and property are concerned.
  7. Responsible for liaison/public relations correspondence to political and funding agency entities under direction of the Tribal Chair.
  8. Serves as director to designated program coordinators and directs work of immediate staff.
  9. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Tribal Chair.

TITLE: GRANT WRITER

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational requirements include a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Business, Sociology, or related field.  At least five (5) years of experience at the level required for the position may be substituted for educational requirements.  Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical writing abilities.  Candidate will have demonstrated superior planning process skills and abilities and have a familiarity of Systems Theory and applications.  Candidate will have verifiable success in grant and contract development skills for at least two (2) years with an ability to teach others.  Must have at least three (3) years exhibited familiarity with federal grant program organization, administration, control, and other management skills.  Must also demonstrate an understanding and capabilities in evaluation research and application.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform the primary writing tasks on targeted grant requests and proposals.
  2. Technical writer for grant requests and proposals with assistance from program directors.
  3. Analyze all requirements presented in Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and/or grant applications, research appropriate data sources to develop and write effective proposals, requests written or verbal input from other experts when appropriate.
  4. Develop proposal schedules and outlines to identify all elements required in the proposal and the due dates for input.  Communicate this schedule to everyone responsible for the development , production, approval, and delivery of the proposal.
  5. Keep current on all pertinent Federal regulations to ensure compliance with proposal or grant requirements.  Work with appropriate departments to ensure applicable new policies are developed when necessary to meet new compliance requirements.
  6. When proposals are ready to submit to granting agencies, review the final write-up with appropriate in-house staff.
  7. Develop plans, strategies, and approaches to meet identified tribal community needs with ability to divide responsibilities between different persons while meeting overall time guidelines.
  8. Compile cultural, statistical, historical, and economic data for use in preparing proposals, documents, and correspondence.
  9. Provides technical assistance to program directors in preparing continuation funding or rewriting proposals and supplement requests.
  10. Assist Program Directors in developing surveys and conducting interviews within designated communities in order to establish detailed needs analysis.
  11. Researches federal, state, and other funding agencies regulations for funding sources and ensures that all grant and proposal applications are incompliance with those regulations.
  12. Assist in grant and contract monitoring in the areas of procedure development, documentation, and software spreadsheet development.
  13. Assist with/complete any other job duties that might be assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work collaboratively with grant project directors, tribal administrators and staff in the accounting and budget offices to support effective grant management and compliance.
  2. Responsible for assisting grant project directors with startup and closeout of grant funded projects.
  3. Assures compliance through periodic reviews of reports for grants.
  4. Provides guidance and training to project directors and tribal administrators regarding startup activities, including establishment of accurate, timely and complete recordkeeping processes.
  5. Evaluates and reviews expenditure of funds in compliance with grant stipulations to see that expenditures are timely and appropriate.
  6. Coordinates the development of grants management checkpoint reports and customizes the reports as needed for individual projects.
  7. Completes checkpoint reports quarterly to ensure that all grant recordkeeping, reporting of requirements and restrictions are observed.
  8. Monitors progress toward meeting grant objectives, distributes copies of reports to appropriate tribal administrators, Executive Council, and Grant Review Committee.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration with computer background or related field.  Two (2) + years of professional technical experience as a Systems/Network Administrator.  Must have experience in Windows applications, configuring and troubleshooting with software and hardware.  Hardware installation, administering, and repair a must.  Experience and knowledge of network security, application security, and physical security issues and practices.  Strong problem-solving skills.  Excellent communication skills.  Pro-active, self-starter requiring minimal supervision.  Five (5) years on the job experience will substitute for educational requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Installing and training of software applications.
  2. Installing, administering, and repairing hardware.
  3. Maintaining office equipment (i.e. copier, printers, fax machines, phone, etc…)
  4. Maintain security at all levels (employee, application, internet)
  5. Assists user to resolve computer-related problems such as inoperative hardware or software.
  6. Read technical journals and manuals and attend vendor seminars to learn about new computer hardware and software that will benefit the Nation.
  7. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  8. Evaluate the compatibility with existing systems, ease of use, and if software meets the needs of the program or department with the Nation.
  9. Develop and maintain installation, configuration, security/access and backup procedures
  10. Administer, support and troubleshoot software / hardware and overall network infrastructure including but not limited to: Windows 2003/2008, Exchange 2003/2010, Terminal Services, VMware, firewalls, routers, broadband connectivity, database servers, performance monitoring, back-ups, third party application support, etc.
  11. Create and upkeep network documentation including but not limited: network assessments, monthly maintenance plans, etc.
  12. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all managed switches, routers, storage arrays, and servers with the position supervisor. Physically installs all new network equipment. Typically performs the initial installation and maintenance of all network-based software. Performs ongoing installations of new software and hardware and maintains existing Windows network.
  13. Be aware of departmental budgets for procurement objectives.
  14. Complete any other duties assigned by the immediate or controlling supervisor.

Job Purpose:
The Operations Manager will oversee and ensure day to day efficient operation of the store. The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining inventory control, product pricing, staff performance and financial management in full accordance with internal and external policies and procedures. In addition the incumbent in this position is responsible to promote positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient service.

Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Minimum of one year experience in a related position in the convenience or Smoke Shop areas. Knowledge of window based computer applications and 10-key ability preferred. Superior verbal/written skills and interaction skills will be needed to fully perform job function. Attention to detail required for reading and interpreting documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
• Oversee efficient day to day operations of smoke shop department.
• Maintain consistent product inventory levels. Oversee product count and preparations of weekly orders.
• Actively seek new products according to market trends.
• Maintain competitive product pricing through selective comparison shopping.
• Manage financials by monitoring cost of sales and labor to sales utilization.
• Knowledge of state and federal tobacco regulations.
• Responsible for training, scheduling, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions for smoke shop staff.

• Assist in the recruiting of, recommend for hire, and train, positive individuals to
become members of the Smoke Shop Team, ensuring excellent customer service
• Motivate, encourage, and challenge store cashiers
• Promote and resolve customer complaints, in a timely and professional manner.
• Implement and enforce established daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean,
adequately stocked, organized, and well kept.
• Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed in a safe manner.
• Maintain quality brand image standards as pass evaluations.
• Supervise, and discipline all store employees (and assistant manager) according to company policy.
• Monitor daily retail gasoline competitors and sending the prices to the corporate office in a timely manner as established by management.
• Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management.
• Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and drive offs daily.
• Conduct store meetings as needed with employees. ( A minimum of one monthly)
• Have the physical ability to perform all duties of a store cashier regularly.
• Understand all information in the daily reporting of store operations.
• Follow and enforce all Kaw Nation Policies and Established Procedures in the store operations
• Implement monthly promotions, insure all POS advertising/signage is properly posted at the proper time.
• Communicate and perform all price change request, mark downs / ups as requested by the Operations Manager.
• Communicate any problems with merchandise pricing to the Price Book Administrator.
• Implement and enforce all merchandising and vendor policies and procedures.
• Enforce all safety and security issues and report any and all unsafe conditions.
• Conduct regular safety and security meeting and document with employees attending signatures.
• Report and process all employee and/ or customer incidents or accidents following company procedure.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PHYSICIAN

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR OF KAW NATION

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school and be licensed as a physician in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control to prescribe and administer Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.

At least two (2) years’ experience in general/family practice is preferred.  Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred.  Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice medicine.  Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred.  Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physician is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:

  1. Provide physician services to patients of the Kanza Health Center including physical examinations, perform and/or order diagnostic procedures, interpret and evaluate test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings to identify the presence of disease and/or disability.
  2. Document all patient services and treatment plans in RPMS Electronic Health Records in a timely manner.
  3. Comply with all appropriate requirements for clinic quality assurance and certification.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and manage specific illnesses and disease processes.
  5. Perform minor in-patient procedures consistent with training, competency, and privileges. Oversee patient adherence to medical and nursing regimens for stable chronically ill patients and adjust treatment plans.
  6. Provide supervision for all ambulatory clinic nurses.
  7. Provide medical director services to all components of the Kaw Health System.
  8. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
  9. Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor.
