Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Project Coordinator

The Kaw Nation is seeking a qualified individual to coordinate our Domestic Violence program.

Qualifications include:
Bachelors Degree in social sciences or a degree in a related field preferred. Combination of education and work experience acceptable if work experience includes at least three years of counseling in domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or a related field. Three years of closely related experience may be substituted for the requirement of a bachelor’s degree. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or related field. Experience as a legal advocate is highly desirable. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of family violence issues, ability to balance cultural issues with victim needs, long range planning skills, and capability of handling administrative duties, which include strong supervisory skills and ability to oversee and handle Federal grant reporting. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information. Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Traveling Tribal Judge
Specialty Court

The Kaw Nation is seeking candidates for a part-time Specialty Court Judge, who will preside over cases involving domestic violence and sexual assault cases.

Qualifications for this position include:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, together with an additional three years related experience is required. Qualified candidates will have the ability to identify, interpret and apply legal principles and precedents to difficult legal problems and must be able to concisely and accurately communicate, both orally and in writing. Candidates must have judicial experience handling domestic violence and sexual assault cases. The successful candidate will be required to learn tribal laws and customs unique to the Kaw Nation and must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others. Candidates must be a member in good standing of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, or of any United States Court of Appeals, or of any District Court of the United States, or a member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of any state of the United States and need not be a citizen of the Kaw Nation.
Background checks and drug tests will be administered. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, malpractice insurance and the eligibility to be insured under by the Kaw Nation’s insurance policies is required.

Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault/Court Advocate: (Full-time)

The Kaw Nation needs an advocate for our Domestic Violence program. Qualifications include: Minimum of Associates degree in social sciences or a related field preferred. Candidate must have experience in advocacy with adults and knowledge of family violence issues, experience navigating the legal field and public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information. Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Preference given to candidate who has experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health or substance abuse. Advocacy experience with adults and/or children highly desirable.
