Meet the individuals listed below that protect the environment for you and all Kaw tribal land.

Dejene Alemayehu Ph.D.KNED Director – Dejene Alemayehu Ph.D.

Dr. Alemayehu has been with the Kaw Nation since 1998. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science from Alemaya University, Ethopia in 1982, a Masters Degree in Agronomy from OSU in 1995, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from OSU in 2000. During his time with Kaw Nation he has expanded the role of the Environmental Department to cover programs to help protect the environment and to help more tribal members.

Kayla CalhounKayla Calhoun – Environmental Assistant

Kayla Calhoun was born and raised in Ponca City. She has a husband named Daniel to whom she’s been married for almost three years. Kayla has a beautiful two-year-old son named Carter. Last year, Kayla attended Pioneer Technology Center for a certification in medical assistance.

“I was thrilled to be hired as the environmental administrative assistant for Kaw Nation,” said Kayla.

 

Fran HackettFrancine Hackett – Environmental Technician

Francine Hackett joined Kaw Nation in December 2013. She has more than 10 years of experience designing and developing databases and web applications. She earned her master’s degree in Information Technology, specializing in enterprise software architecture, from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn., in September 2013. In 2003, she earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science and applied and computational mathematics from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. She’s proficient in several computer languages, such as HTML and JavaScript, and four databases, including Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server and MS Access.

In her spare time, she enjoys fishing.

 

Toby LaversToby Lavers – Recycling Technician

Toby Lavers, a Kaw tribal member, joined KNED in January 2014. He worked six months for River Ridge Construction before becoming KNED’s recycling technician. He’s a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Afghanistan war.

In his spare time, Lavers enjoys hunting.

 

 

 

Cody WingoCody Wingo

Cody Wingo is currently studying process technology at Northern Oklahoma College. He interned for the Kaw Nation Environmental Department in the summer of 2013.

    Tribal Members: If you wish to request Tribal services (mold, water, radon, soil testing, etc.), please feel free to complete the Tribal Service Request Form. We'll be happy to discuss these requests with you to further educate ourselves with your problem in order to find the best solution.
    Kaw Enterprises: If you wish to schedule an Environmental, Underground Storage Tank or Food Inspection please complete the Tribal Service Request form below and indicate which type of inspection you are requesting. The KNED will contact you with an appointment time.
    Schools and other Educational Institutions: If you wish to schedule a study tour and/or are requesting educational supplies, please complete the Tribal Service Request form. The KNED will contact you at our earliest convenience.
    Please feel free to complete our Environmental Questionnaire. Your feedback can improve the quality of services offered by the KNED and could increase the likelihood of federal funding for specific projects. If you are an enrolled Tribal member, your participation is strongly encouraged.
