Sometimes when we are waiting on someone to start a job or just have a vacancy that needs to be filled for a short period of time we need someone to fill in the basic parts of the job.  The Kaw Members who depend on the services of the Kaw Nation sometimes have to wait for the permanent new hires and we want  our tribal members to start the process as soon as possible.

These positions will be short-term and temporary.  Pay rates, days and hours will vary based on the duties of the position.  All available members who would like to do these fill-in positions would have an interview to place them where they are best suited and comfortable working when needs arise.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: MEDICAL DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate will possess a current practical nursing license from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing. At least two (2) years’ experience in an outpatient setting is preferred. Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred. Candidate must also possess professional and personal integrity, have respect and sensitivity for a culturally diverse population and have excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the medical record, patient care, and an ability to accurately document clinical data is required. Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred. Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Licensed practical nurse is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:
1. Provide nursing services to patients under provider’s directions and orders.

2. Assists in patient flow, including lab draws, EKG, immunizations, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.

3. Perform other medical procedures in accordance with licensures per provider’s orders.

4. Assist with health and disease awareness presentations, screenings, education, and other activities to increase patient population knowledge of health issues.

5. Assist purchase referred care (PRC) team with referrals, appointments, and follow-ups in the absence of the PRC Coordinator.

6. Assist in advising patients of benefits available to patients through the Patient Benefits Coordinator.

7. Maintain stock of lab and medical supplies, ordering as needed.

8. Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient care in a timely manner in the electronic health records system.

9. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.

10. Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor.


KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Background Investigator (Vendor)/Office Assistant

Immediate Supervisor: Gaming Commissioner

Location: Kaw City

Full Time/ Regular

Qualifications:

Qualifications: (FULL TIME) The Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate should possess good computer and communication skills and strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The candidate must have report writing skills and be familiar with Tribal, Federal and State laws regarding Indian Gaming, and criminal records. The applicant must have one year of office experience. The applicant must not have a criminal record and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications: College coursework or an Associate’s degree. Possess some knowledge of the criminal and civil court systems and previous experience searching databases.

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete background investigations on all vendors, principals, and vendor techs referred from the gaming facilities.
  • Prepare, provide, and maintain all vendor license applications and renewals pursuant to the 2016 Kaw Nation Gaming Ordinance and gaming compact.
  • Search databases and perform electronic fingerprinting.
  • Document and prepare complete and accurate reports with all the facts.
  • The applicant must meet all deadlines that are set forth for each part of the job.
  • Assist with employee licensing investigations and renewals as needed.
  • May assist in supply ordering, sorting and delivering.
  • May assist in receiving and greeting the public, routing callers and making badges.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Multipurpose Aide

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Child Care Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chief of Staff

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK

Part Time Position

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time experience in a child care setting. Must be able to pass a background check, accreditation (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children) and Drug test.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Multipurpose Aide will be responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children placed into his/her care.

  1. The Multipurpose Aide must promote the Kanza Child Care Center (KCCC) in a positive way to parents and the community.
  2. Provide classroom management while main teachers are away.
  3. Doing laundry as needed/keep laundry room clean.
  4. Cover while teachers in absent and /or on break
  5. Maintain client confidentiality.
  6. Attend local, state, regional and national child care meetings/training when deemed appropriate.
  7. Responsible for helping to keep classroom clean.
  8. Help in classrooms when and where needed (1&2 yr. olds, 3&4 yr. olds and infants)

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Master Teacher (full-time)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Day Care Center Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chief of Staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED.  Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred.  Have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in areas related to Early Child hood Education. Have a background in providing professional development through workshops and/or mentoring.  Have the ability to implement developmentally appropriate curricula and structured teaching practices for the day care teachers. Training/education experience in a childcare setting and CPR/1st Aid certification is preferred.  Applicant must be willing to gain more knowledge, training, and experience in childhood development.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

STATUS: FULL TIME/REGULAR

LOCATION: NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. At least two (2) years’ experience in medical clinic administration with at least two (2) years supervisory experience required. Must have excellent computer and communication skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises clinic business office employees, which includes reception, data entry staff, billing staff, and dental staff.
  2. Coordinates the facility’s participation in Meaningful Use (MU), the Physicians’ Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and accreditation activities.
  3. Maintains daily transaction records and submits required reports.
  4. Supervises patient registration and scheduling.
  5. Develops and implements clinic policies and procedures related to the business office, health information management, and systems related to the revenue and reporting cycle.
  6. Develops and administers the quality assurance program of the clinic, including medical records and information contained in the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS).
  7. Promotes awareness of data validity and security, and participates in efforts to correct deficiencies and errors.
  8. Attend trainings related to the Business Office, Health Information Management, and RPMS software packages.
  9. Supervises the capture of 3rd party reimbursements to maximize revenue, such as Sooner Care, private insurance, etc.
  10. Assists in the development of program budgets.
  11. Completes any other duties assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

STATUS: REGULAR/FULL-TIME

LOCATION: NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Registered Nurse with current Oklahoma License. Bachelors Degree with minimum of three (3) years experience required. Computer proficiency required.
  2. Public Health Nurse experience preferred with ability to:
    • Establish goals for home-bound patients
    • Develop training & teaching programs for public & in-home use
    • Provide prevention & public health services under physician protocols
    • Develop and maintain strong rapport with diverse client base
  1. Knowledge of comprehensive health programs and the full range of professional public health nursing principles, standards, practices, and procedures.
  2. Knowledge and ability to apply methods and techniques of adult education to stimulate behavioral changes related to good health practices.
  3. Experience in working with Native American people.
  4. Knowledge of drugs and the desired effect in treatment of disease and side-effects.
  5. Knowledge of quality improvement process to improve patient care and facilitate monitoring, evaluation, and program planning.
  6. Knowledge of health record aspects of patient care and an ability to accurately and completely document related clinical data.
  7. Ability to provide supervision, guidance, and instruction to other staff assigned to the Public Health Nursing and Home Health Care Programs.
  8. Ability to operate government, tribal, and private vehicles and maintain current operator’s license.
  9. Current registration as a professional nurse is required for continued employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive public health delivery system including prevention, patient education, immunization, maternal and child health, chronic disease prevention and monitoring, nutrition, home health services, and other related areas.
  2. Diagnose and refer patients as needed. Utilize all possible resources both within the Indian Health Service and the Kaw Nation Health Program and outside of those parameters.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the public health and home health components of the Kaw Nation Health Program.
  4. Responsible for the Kaw Nation Diabetic Grant objectives and goals.
  5. Responsible for pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug testing of Kaw Nation employees with referrals to treatment as needed per test results.
  6. Compete any other duties as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PHARMACY CLERK

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CLINIC PHARMACIST

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

LOCATION: NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma required.  Applicant must have at least two (2) years of experience in an outpatient clinic setting.  Computer proficient as evidence by experience with computer operation in an employment situation with experience operating QS-1 Pharmacy Computer system is preferred.  Must be able to perform bending and lifting tasks.  Applicant must have excellent communication and people skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in inventory of pharmaceutical stock.
  2. Operate the pharmacy computer system including patient and pharmaceutical data input, report generation, etc…
  3. Answer phone and assists patients.
  4. Perform basic cleaning duties in pharmacy area as needed—i.e. clean all counter and glass surfaces daily and dust shelves and products as needed.
  5. Call customers to confirm prescriptions were ready for pick up
  6. Contact providers when necessary to confirm patient information
  7. Complete other duties as assigned by the pharmacist.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Dental Assistant

 IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Business Office Manager

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Health Director

STATUS: Part Time (20 hrs per week)

LOCATION: Kanza Health Clinic, Newkirk

QUALIFICATIONS: 

A High School Diploma or GED required with a  Dental Assistant Certification preferred, and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a dental or health care environment or related field.  Office experience and competent computer skills required.  Ability to relate and interact with patients in a professional, friendly and polite manner. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to multi task and work with minimum supervision. Prefer candidate to have some experience in billing and insurance processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Greet and care for all patients and visitors to the practice in a polite and courteous manner at all times.
  2. Schedule appointments and monitor the appointments to maximize available appointment time.
  3. Make copies of CDIB, Insurance Cards, and Driver’s License to be placed in the patient’s file. Ensure that all notes and information are available to coincide with appointments and patient’s information and medical/dental history is up-to- date.
  4. Deal with inquiries both in person and on the telephone in a polite and professional manner.
  5. Make courtesy calls to avoid “patient no show” concerning their appointments.
  6. Prepares the exam room and equipment according to sterile and clean technique guidelines before every treatment of a patient.
  7. Follows the instructions of the dentist.
  8. Takes oral x-rays and instructs patients in good oral hygiene and follow-up care as instructed by the dentist.
  9. Obtains patient’s history and maintains up-to-date patient dental records.
  10. Schedules patient’s appointments for dental procedures.
  11. Keeps the dental office, equipment, and dental instruments clean, sterilized, and prepared for dental procedures.
  12. Stocks and organizes supplies and cleans the dental laboratory.
  13. Complete any other duties assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

TYPE: FULL TIME/REGULAR

LOCATION: KAW CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field is required.  However, a minimum of five (5) years Human Resource Management or related experience may be substituted for educational requirements.  Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate an ability to work well with others and organize teams and knowledge of employment and labor laws.  Experience in developing and implementing personnel policies is preferred.  A minimum of two (2) years working experience with tribes and/or self-governance tribes is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the tribal self-governance personnel department and personnel records.
  2. Conducts research regarding personnel policies and procedures of the Kaw Nation, other tribes, and other units of government as required by the project.
  3. Negotiate rates with insurance providers annually with KDI and Kaw Housing. Conduct and/or coordinate Open Enrollment Meetings for all employees.
  4. Works with webmaster regarding all updates to the Kaw Nation website.
  5. Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  6. Complete federal reporting requirements for all Kaw Nation entities.
  7. Coordinate the hiring schedule, schedule meetings, make assignments, etc…
  8. Assist Program Directors/Coordinators and Supervisors in identifying and providing training programs to meet training needs in order to facilitate transfer of programs resulting from Self-Governance.
  9. Conduct and/or coordinate New Hire Orientation.
  10. Conducts investigations and writes corrective action letters.
  11. Oversee and review all monthly insurance invoices and ensure timely submission to AP for payment.
  12. Develop and submit all recommendations for change to the Kaw Nation Policies and Procedures.
  13. Develop and present other reports/recommendations as required to the Tribal and General Councils.
  14. Insure strict confidentiality of all personnel records.
  15. Ensure timely performance reviews for all employees.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

Qualifications: The Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate must be proficient with a computer and possess good communication skills. Candidates must have strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The candidate must possess excellent report writing skills and be familiar with Tribal, Federal and State laws and criminal records. Any applicant with at least one-year prior investigation experience is preferred. The applicant must not have a criminal record and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Other preferred qualifications:  Possess knowledge of the criminal and civil court systems and previous experience searching databases. Previous law enforcement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities: 

  • Reviews completed background interview forms of CFR 25 employees with each candidate, checking for inconsistencies, errors, omissions, falsifications and minimum requirements to ensure accuracy and completion before beginning initial candidate interview.
  • Obtains and reviews records from Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and State, Tribal and Municipal law enforcement records, where candidate has resided to determine if candidate was a witness, victim, suspect or perpetrator of any crime.
  • Obtains and reviews arrest reports, witness statements, and other relevant documents to determine candidate compliance.
  • Obtains and reviews reports from credit reporting agencies in order to evaluate candidate’s financial responsibility.
  • Conducts background investigations by interviewing employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, members of the candidate’s family and personal references.
  • Makes additional inquiries to assist in determining credibility of statements.
  • Observes each person being interviewed for the presence or absence of physical indicators of intoxication, the use of controlled substances, truthfulness, etc.
  • Prepares detailed and complete interview statements for each person being interviewed in order to allow a reviewer to draw reasonable and logical conclusions about the prospective candidates. · Prepares final background investigation package for presentation to supervision and management by organizing all investigative material in accordance with established procedures. · Meets regularly with management and/or candidate in order to keep them apprised of the status of the investigation;
  • Prepares detailed summary of adverse information based upon objective analysis and evaluation of candidate’s background, and interviewee statements, as measured against requirement standards as set forth by the Kaw Nation.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: KHDD COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree in Communications, Public Relations or related fields, preferred. Experience in website development and management. Experience in social media applications. One-year experience working in community development, preferred. Excellent human relation skills. Experience in working in a culturally diverse community setting. Sensitivity to cultural differences. Valid driver’s license and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Write newsletters and other communications instruments targeted to community of parents and citizens interested in the school district.
  2. Manage social media presence of district.
  3. Manage website presence of district in coordination with the Technology Department.
  4. Function as part of a team to provide assistance to students, families and staff to ensure a successful school experience.
  5. Works closely with school staff and outside employers to obtain necessary information and provide assistance to clients.
  6. Provides support in implementation and coordination of activities with outside service agencies, school sites, etc. for child care, transportation to and from school, etc.
  7. Conduct community meetings.
  8. Act as liaison with neighborhood associations.
  9. Develop connections between staff, parents, and students.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: KHDD INTAKE SPECIALIST

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL TIME

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience in working with difficult people, possess strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with varying databases. Excellent writing and communications skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.  Demonstrate strong sense of empathy and ability to connect and relate well with others.  Must be willing to travel and work evenings/weekends.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Exhibit courtesy, professionalism, and positive regard at all times with clients, staff, and the public.
  • Provide and organize a safe, supportive learning environment to promote productivity, learning, & growth for clients and general community.
  • Schedule new client appointments and explaining new client policies in a clear and professional manner.

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

An associate degree in education, sociology or related field is preferred; however, a minimum of two years college and work experience may be substituted. Preference given to candidates with a credential or certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or a related field. Applicant should possess computer competency in Microsoft applications, organizational and office skills, and case management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the design and implementation of policy and practices that align with Kansas Child Care Licensing regulations for enrollment of children.
  2. Assist in the design and implementation of enrollment policy and practices that align with the Kanza Learning Center Program regulations.
  3. Assist in the design and implementation of documentation practices that maximize program reporting capabilities while minimizing parent repetition in completing paperwork.
  4. Participate in the development and implementation of parent and family engagement strategies that support family well-being and promote children’s learning and development.
  5. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized family partnership services.
  6. Through motivational interviewing, establishes meaningful relationships with parents/guardians and children.
  7. Respond to urgent needs for family basic resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and personal safety through referral and warm handoffs with staff or volunteers in area resource organizations.

  • Provide back-up services when requested to Newkirk City Police and Kay County Sheriff’s Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school and be licensed as a physician in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control to prescribe and administer Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.

At least two (2) years’ experience in general/family practice is preferred.  Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred.  Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice medicine.  Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred.  Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physician is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:

  1. Provide physician services to patients of the Kanza Health Center including physical examinations, perform and/or order diagnostic procedures, interpret and evaluate test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings to identify the presence of disease and/or disability.
  2. Document all patient services and treatment plans in RPMS Electronic Health Records in a timely manner.
  3. Comply with all appropriate requirements for clinic quality assurance and certification.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and manage specific illnesses and disease processes.
  5. Perform minor in-patient procedures consistent with training, competency, and privileges. Oversee patient adherence to medical and nursing regimens for stable chronically ill patients and adjust treatment plans.
  6. Provide supervision for all ambulatory clinic nurses.
  7. Provide medical director services to all components of the Kaw Health System.
  8. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
