Sometimes when we are waiting on someone to start a job or just have a vacancy that needs to be filled for a short period of time we need someone to fill in the basic parts of the job.  The Kaw Members who depend on the services of the Kaw Nation sometimes have to wait for the permanent new hires and we want  our tribal members to start the process as soon as possible.

These positions will be short-term and temporary.  Pay rates, days and hours will vary based on the duties of the position.  All available members who would like to do these fill-in positions would have an interview to place them where they are best suited and comfortable working when needs arise.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: ADVOCATE for the Kaw Nation Domestic Violence Program

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Kaw Nation Chief of Staff

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR

STATUS: Regular, Full-time

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or a degree in a related field preferred. Combination of education and work experience acceptable if work experience includes at least three years of counseling in domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or a related field. Three years of closely related experience may be substituted for the requirement of a bachelor’s degree. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or related field. Experience as a legal advocate is highly desirable. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of family violence issues, ability to balance cultural issues with victim needs, long range planning skills, and capability of handling administrative duties. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information. Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Responsible for implementing all aspects of the proposed project, including Intervention, Treatment and Response strategies, including offering professional trainings on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence.
2. Primary responsibility for answering the Crisis Line Calls and crisis intervention in emergent cases.
3. Work with area agencies to develop policy and procedures and develop referral sources and advocate services for victims.
4. Oversee Volunteers and coordinate Volunteer efforts as needed to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
5. Responsible for completing all required reports and grant documents, including budgets and financials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associates degree in social sciences or a related field preferred. Candidate must have experience in advocacy with adults and knowledge of family violence issues, experience navigating the legal field, and public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess an understanding of handling personal and confidential information. Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Preference given to candidate who has experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse. Advocacy experience with adults and/or children highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Serve as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate / Legal Advocate for the Kaw Nation Family Trauma Healing Center and initiate a coordinated community response initiative for Victims in Kay County.
2. Maintain client confidentiality. Maintain data tracking system which preserves that confidentiality. Establish, organize, and maintain files.
3. Provide support to VAWA unit staff attorneys and accredited representatives. Keep clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress to assigned attorney.
4. Perform administrative tasks related to grant reporting and other requirements.
5. Working to ensure survivors’ safety and privacy during trial. Liaising with law enforcement and prosecutors in matters related to survivors’ criminal justice cases.
6. Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
7. Providing comprehensive crisis intervention to primary and secondary survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.
8. Aiding survivors when filing for Crime Victims’ Reparations, address confidentiality programs.
9. Connecting victims with additional services throughout the community as needed.
10. Accompany survivors to law enforcement offices, prosecutor’s offices, and court proceedings.
11. Complete client intake forms, document services and referrals provided, and conduct thorough case management.
12. Work closely and interact with detectives, deputies, patrol officers, service providers, other advocates, governmental agencies, and the public to ensure a survivor’s rights and needs are addressed.
13. Participate in advocacy team meetings, staff meetings and community meetings as requested.
14. Assist in developing reports as required by funder(s).
15. Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: DRIVER/ADMINISTRATIVE JANITOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR/TITLE VI DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR OF THE KAW NATION

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a valid driver’s license, and must be insurable.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.  Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must have the ability to keep two (2) buildings clean and in an orderly manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1.   Delivers meals to elderly and child care facility as needed
  2.   Performs requested supportive services for elderly.
  3. Responsible for maintaining Title VI program facilities
  4. Picks up food supplies and other needed supplies
  5. Daily record keeping of units of service
  6. Daily record keeping of specific cleaning duties
  7. Performs minor repairs
  8. Keep each area assigned to clean dusted, vacuumed, and trash emptied.
  9. Wash windows inside and out on a periodic schedule.
  10. Ensures that janitorial/housekeeping supplies are replenished.
  11. Clean and sanitize all bathrooms, keep paper towels and toilet tissue stocked.
  12. Mop and sweep tile floors and wax on an as needed basis.
  13. Water grass, trees, and flower beds during appropriate seasons and keep weeded.
  14. Clean air vents on an as needed basis.
  15. Vacuum all carpeted areas and treat any spots on the carpet.
  16. Keep parking lot policed of paper and debris, etc.
  17. Report any problem that should require knowledge of specific training to repair or correct to Immediate Supervisor.
  18. Assist with/complete any other job duties that might be assigned.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Shelter Advocate

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Shelter Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Tribal Chair

TYPE: Regular/Full-time

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK

Shift: 2nd 4:00pm to 12:00am or 12:00am to 8:00am

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer experience in counseling and/or advocacy, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, ability to accept responsibility and follow through project assignments. Also prefer experience or demonstrated interest in women’s issues, preferably domestic violence. Valid Oklahoma Drivers License and clean
driving record for insurability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to callers accessing 24-hour hotline and provide services including crisis Intervention.
  • Provide information/referrals to victims of domestic violence victims and their children
  • Facilitate support groups and/or house meetings
  • Provide supportive direction relating to money management, personal hygiene, work skills, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation and utilization of other community resources
  • Assist with protective/restraining orders and other court matters
  • Arrange for emergency medical services or law enforcement services as needed
  • Complete telephone intake with women requesting shelter
  • Provide/arrange for shelter for qualified persons
  • Complete shelter intake and other related forms as required
  • Provide/arrange transportation for clients who are appropriate for shelter
  • Ensure client confidentiality and the Center’s confidentiality policy
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of the shelter
  • Participate in staff meetings/trainings

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: BACKGROUND INVESTIGATOR/OFFICE MANAGER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CHAIR GAMING COMMISSIONER

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: TRIBAL COUNCIL CHAIR

QUALIFICATIONS: (FULL TIME)

The Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate should possess strong computer and communication skills and strong ethics with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Should possess knowledge of working in Excel.  The candidate must have report writing skills and be familiar with Tribal, Federal and State laws regarding Indian Gaming, and criminal records. The applicant must possess knowledge of insurance in a group coverage setting and have one year of office experience. The applicant must not have a criminal record and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:  College coursework or an Associate’s degree. Possess some knowledge of the criminal and civil court systems and be willing to receive required training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with background investigations on all employees hired at the gaming facilities including board members, gaming commission employees and any other individuals deemed necessary.
  2. Maintain all records to ensure gaming commission compliance of records management.
  3. Prepare, provide, and maintain all gaming license applications and renewals pursuant to the Kaw Nation Gaming Ordinance, Tribal-State Compact, and NIGC regulations.
  4. Search databases and perform electronic fingerprinting following all CJIS regulations.
  5. Document and prepare complete and accurate monthly reports with all the facts and meet deadlines.
  6. Maintain required checklists of incidents involving MIC, TICS and violations.
  7. Assist with vendor licensing investigations and renewals as needed.
  8. Prepare purchase orders, maintain PO list, and be involved with insurance coverage of KNGC and contents ensuring coverage.
  9. Record, maintain, and submit timesheets for payroll. With Commissioner approval, enter/approve time off requests ensuring the office is covered.
  10. Prepare a budget draft to present to the Commissioners, attend Budget meetings, monitor expenditures, and compare to budget. Report to Commissioners.
  11. All other duties assigned by the Gaming Commissioners.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: ICW DIRECTOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME

LOCATION: KAW CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in child welfare and family services is preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or related field and must have three (3) years experience in social services work in public or private sector.

Must have comprehension and understanding of the basic principles of Indian Child Welfare and operation and evaluation of community social services program planning and direction.  Must have basic understanding of legal terms related to deprived cases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans and organizes an Indian Child and Family Services program within the Kaw Nation Jurisdiction as described by the program goals and objectives.
  2. Continually assess the family service needs of the Kaw members and other Indian families living within the jurisdiction.
  3. Conduct/coordinates individual and family counseling as needed.
  4. Develops annual budget. Manages and operates Federal/State Grants maintaining compliance with each specific program.
  5. Acts as a liaison between Indian families and various service provider agencies.
  6. Represents the Kaw Nation in court cases involving Kaw Indian Children.
  7. Responsible for all programmatic reports to funding agencies and the CHAIR as required.
  8. Supervises and manages all staff.
  9. Perform any other work related duties requested by the Director or Chairman/CEO.
  10. Must have the ability to perform Director level duties as well as carrying and maintain a case load.

Must be able to pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children), pass adjudication through BIA, and a drug test.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.    Failure to meet any of these requirements will lead to a withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION 

TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: TRIBAL CHAIR

 CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: TRIBAL CHAIR

 SALARY RANGE:  $60,000 to $70,000

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business Administration or a related field of study desired.  Incumbent must have 2 to 3 years hands-on tribal Management experience with experience in federal program administration and reporting. Must possess working knowledge of tribal governmental structures and organizations. Must be able to communicate effectively with tribal members, tribal officials and government officials for accomplishing tribal goals and objectives. Must be capable of developing budget (s) and monitoring budget (s) for compliance.

Incumbent must have some comprehension of real estate management and applicable real estate laws effecting individual and tribal trust properties, assets, and Bureau of Indian Affairs reporting requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Directs and coordinates day-to-day operations as assistant to and under the direction of the Tribal Chair.
  2. Ensures federal regulations/policies are followed by all federal programs administered by the Kaw Nation Executive Council.
  3. Supervises and coordinates administrative actions and personnel of the Administrative Services Department.
  4. Must keep abreast of federal agency regulations, programs, and policies to assist the Tribal Chair in making decisions, evaluations, and recommendations on programs available to Indian Tribes.
  5. Reports to the Tribal Chair any major problems or potential problems spotted in the area of administration requiring attention and recommending possible solutions.
  6. Assists in preparing tentative budget plans to assure adherence to Tribal goals insofar as personnel, fiscal, and property are concerned.
  7. Responsible for liaison/public relations correspondence to political and funding agency entities under direction of the Tribal Chair.
  8. Serves as director to designated program coordinators and directs work of immediate staff.
  9. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Tribal Chair.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must have general knowledge of lawn care, plumbing, and carpentry. Knowledge of mechanical equipment and repair is preferred. Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver License and be able to pass a drug test. Applicant must be able to do heavy lifting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The employee will keep furniture, fixtures, and the physical structure of all buildings in good repair. The employee will perform painting, carpentry, other maintenance duties, and make minor repairs to mechanical equipment.

  1. Required to drive a vehicle.
  2. Provide carpentry work.
  3. Paints all surfaces according to instructions.
  4. Attends to all plumbing, sewer, heating, air conditioning, and roof repairs.
  5. Mends office furniture.
  6. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor for daily instructions and guidelines.
  7. Perform any other responsibilities related to maintenance as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Dental Hygienist

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Health Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chair

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Kanza Health Clinic, Newkirk

QUALIFICATIONS:

Dental hygienists are required to earn a minimum of an Associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited dental hygiene school and hold a State license in order to practice. Dental hygienists are expected to be competent in multiple areas of dental health including: completing dental prophylaxis and non-surgical periodontal therapy; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of dental caries and disease; providing preventative care, and performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

  1. Prepare treatment room for patient, ensuring adherence to all clinical and infection control protocols.
  2. Prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping patient. Explain and demonstrate oral hygiene instructions (tooth brushing, flossing, nutritional advice, and smoking cessation) and answer all patient questions.
  3. Manage instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and storing instruments in an organized manner.
  4. Complete oral assessments including: reviewing the patient’s dental history; evaluation of the gingival condition, dentition, and intraoral/extraoral tissues; oral cancer screening; and periodontal and dental charting.
  5. Take and interpret dental radiographs; ensure diagnostic quality of radiographs.
  6. Complete dental prophylaxis and non-surgical periodontal therapy by removing calculus and stains from the dentition and beneath gingival tissues; place subgingival antimicrobial agents as indicated by the patient’s periodontal condition.
  7. Apply anti-caries agents such as fluorides and other preventative agents as indicated by the condition of the patient’s oral health.
  8. Administer local anesthetics and/or nitrous oxide analgesia as indicated by the patient’s oral health needs or as directed by the dentist.
  9. Fabricate temporary restorations, clean and polish removable appliances, remove cement from crowns and bridges.
  10. Serve as an active participant in the management of medical and dental emergencies by following instructions from the team leader, maintaining BLS certification, locating and bringing emergency drugs and oxygen delivery systems, and alerting first responders.
  11. Maintain accurate and detailed treatment notes including vital signs, medical and dental histories, dental and periodontal charting, and treatment rendered.
  12. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain all confidential information.
  13. Protect patients and employees by maintaining a safe and clean work environment and complying with all OSHA, CDC, ADA, and clinic procedures, rules, and infection control regulations and guidelines.
  14. Ensure functional operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  15. Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing or submitting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  16. Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish dental treatment.
  17. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  18. Contribute to the clinical team by participating in team meetings, assisting colleagues with clinic duties, and disseminating information as indicated.
  19. Primary dental clinic personnel in charge of community outreach including the initiation and organization of outreach activities and programs.
  20. Complete any other duties as assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor and/or dentist.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Clinic Receptionist

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Health Director

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of 1 year experience in a health-care/dental office environment or related office experience. Must have the ability to multi task and coordinate work efficiently. Must possess good oral communication.

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

  1. Answer multiple phone lines.
  2. Check patients in and out.
  3. Schedule appointments for health clinic.
  4. Review patient registration data daily to update and correct patient information, ensuring all information is current.
  5. Assist patients in completing new or updated information.
  6. Make appointment reminder calls.
  7. Pull patient charts and maintain filing for dental records.
  8. Scan patient information into the electronic chart.
  9. Copy records requests received from patients, disability, other dental offices, attorney offices, etc.
  10. Assist with the ordering and inventory of supplies.
  11. Observance of strict confidentiality in all matters, responsibilities and duties performed under this position and adhere to the HIPAA (Privacy Act) in regards to patients’ medical information.
  12. Complete any other jobs assigned by the immediate /controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: DAY CARE TEACHER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Day Care Center Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR:  Chair

TYPE: Regular, Full-Time

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK.

Pay Range: $12.00 to 14.00 depending on experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, must have or working toward obtaining CDA. Must have experience working with young children. Must have or be willing to complete certification in First Aid and CPR. Must have ability to pass random drug testing requirements throughout employment. Ability to pass an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check. Cannot have been convicted of or pied guilty to any of the following: Child Abuse or Neglect, Possession, Sale or Distribution of an illegal substance, sexual misconduct of any form and Assault and Battery.
Applicant must be willing to gain more knowledge, training, and ed experience in childhood development.

Must be able to pass a background check, adjudication through the Kaw Nation Police Department and a pre-employment drug test. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable. Must be able to pass a physical examination.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. The Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children placed into his/her care.
2. The Teacher must promote the Kaw Nation Day Care Center in a positive way to parents and the community.
3. Responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans with continuous monitoring.
4. Must be willing to perform all duties inherent in a childcare setting.
5. Monitors children in the classroom and on the playground at all times. At no shall any child be left unsupervised. Staff must maintain constant vigilance.
6. Must adhere to the Kaw Nation Daycare Policies and Procedures and Staff Handbook.

STATUS:  Full-time, temporary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to a person who possesses a minimum of a Bachelor’s in Public Administration, Planning and Development, or Business Administration with an emphasis in organizational management or a related field. Two (2) to five (5) years experience managing construction and building may also serve as education.  Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in working with tribal governments/organizations processes and procedures will become a plus.  This person must demonstrate excellent speaking and communication skills and have experience in policy development, maintaining and evaluating projects, executing monthly reports both statistical and narrative methods, organization and coordination of multiple tasks,  strategic planning with involved staff, and meeting targets of projects on a timely basis. This person must work with tribal leaders and committees in a professional and productive style.  The person must demonstrate strong computer skills including but not limited to Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be responsible for coordinating all Project related to Covid relief funds
  • Will serve as the point of contact for all Project participants and will coordinate the ongoing objective work plan timeline so that Project benchmarks are successfully completed in a timely manner.
  • Will act as the Purchasing Agent for all ongoing construction projects. Will be responsible for advertising and/or solicit bids and make recommendations for work to be performed by contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors.
  • Will report the progress of the Project to the Tribal Chair weekly and to Tribal Council and General Council when required.
  • Will be responsible for monitoring Project expenditures and maintaining the Project budget.
  • Will be required to perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

Candidates must have a valid Driver License.  BIA and/or CLEET Law Enforcement Certification preferred.  Each officer should possess good communication skills and be in good physical condition.  Weekend and nights required.  Officers can not have a criminal background.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patrol Kaw Nation land, investigate, enforce, and cite or arrest violators of CFR, Tribal Law, and State and Federal laws and refer to proper authorities.
Makes assigned, periodic inspections and patrols of buildings and property.
Performs duties assigned by patrol checklist including an examination of all doors, windows, and gates and reports any irregularities to the Police Supervisor.
Prepare complete and accurate reports with all of the facts.
Report any fire, theft, or other dangerous or irregular occurrences to his/her supervisor.
Record and report description(s) of person(s), license tag(s), and automobile(s) of unauthorized person(s) on property.
Record and submit an accurate log sheet at the end of the each shift, which in addition to regular duties and irregular occurrences, records temperature and weather conditions.
Testify in Tribal, Federal, and State courts when necessary.
Serve court documents such as arrests warrants, search warrants, summons, subpoenas, and civil papers.
Responds to request(s) for assistance on land under tribal jurisdiction.
Provide back-up services when requested to Newkirk City Police and Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
Perform any other responsibilities related to Tribal Police as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant is required to have a high school diploma or must be sixteen (16) years of age or older and currently enrolled in high school.  Must possess basic clerical skills, good oral and written communication skills, and an ability to set priorities. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for providing overall administrative support for the Kaw Nation Wellness Center.
  2. Responsible for all clerical support to staff including, but not limited to, word processing for reports and drafts of schedules.
  3. Responsible for preparing materials for all certifications and/or trainings as needed.
  4. Responsible for typing, word processing, filing, answering phones, making copies, and scheduling.
  5. Keep each area assigned to clean dusted, vacuumed, and trash emptied.
  6. Clean and sanitize all bathrooms, keep paper towels and toilet tissue stocked.
  7. Report any problem that should require knowledge of specific training to repair or correct to Immediate Supervisor.

Summer Internship Position – Environmental Intern: Location – Kaw City
Kaw Nation Environmental Department is looking for an individual with a High School diploma or pursing a college environmental science, natural resource, biology, or chemistry degree. Responsibilities include assisting with air, water activities, outreach activities, and any other environmental related duties. This individual must be able to physically lift at least 25lbs. This position will require a minimum of 20 hours per week and will be from May 31st through August 5th. This position also requires a drug screen test.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sociology, or related field.  At least five (5) years of experience at the level required for the position may be substituted for educational requirements.  Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical writing abilities.  Candidate will have demonstrated superior planning process skills and abilities and have a familiarity of Systems Theory and applications.  Candidate will have verifiable success in grant and contract development skills for at least two (2) years with an ability to teach others.  Must have at least three (3) years exhibited familiarity with federal grant program organization, administration, control, and other management skills.  Must also demonstrate an understanding and capabilities in evaluation research and application.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform the primary writing tasks on targeted grant requests and proposals.
  2. Technical writer for grant requests and proposals with assistance from program directors.
  3. Analyze all requirements presented in Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and/or grant applications, research appropriate data sources to develop and write effective proposals, requests written or verbal input from other experts when appropriate.
  4. Develop proposal schedules and outlines to identify all elements required in the proposal and the due dates for input.  Communicate this schedule to everyone responsible for the development, production, approval, and delivery of the proposal.
  5. Keep current on all pertinent Federal regulations to ensure compliance with proposal or grant requirements.  Work with appropriate departments to ensure applicable new policies are developed when necessary to meet new compliance requirements.
  6. When proposals are ready to submit to granting agencies, review the final write-up with appropriate in-house staff.
  7. Develop plans, strategies, and approaches to meet identified tribal community needs with ability to divide responsibilities between different persons while meeting overall time guidelines.
  8. Compile cultural, statistical, historical, and economic data for use in preparing proposals, documents, and correspondence.
  9. Provides technical assistance to program directors in preparing continuation funding or rewriting proposals and supplement requests.
  10. Assist Program Directors in developing surveys and conducting interviews within designated communities in order to establish detailed needs analysis.
  11. Researches federal, state, and other funding agencies regulations for funding sources and ensures that all grant and proposal applications are incompliance with those regulations.
  12. Assist in grant and contract monitoring in the areas of procedure development, documentation, and software spreadsheet development.
  13. Assist with/complete any other job duties that might be assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor.
