These positions will be short-term and temporary.  Pay rates, days and hours will vary based on the duties of the position.  All available members who would like to do these fill-in positions would have an interview to place them where they are best suited and comfortable working when needs arise.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: KHDD COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree in Communications, Public Relations or related fields, preferred. Experience in website development and management. Experience in social media applications. One-year experience working in community development, preferred. Excellent human relation skills. Experience in working in a culturally diverse community setting. Sensitivity to cultural differences. Valid driver’s license and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Write newsletters and other communications instruments targeted to community of parents and citizens interested in the school district.
  2. Manage social media presence of district.
  3. Manage website presence of district in coordination with the Technology Department.
  4. Function as part of a team to provide assistance to students, families and staff to ensure a successful school experience.
  5. Works closely with school staff and outside employers to obtain necessary information and provide assistance to clients.
  6. Provides support in implementation and coordination of activities with outside service agencies, school sites, etc. for child care, transportation to and from school, etc.
  7. Conduct community meetings.
  8. Act as liaison with neighborhood associations.
  9. Develop connections between staff, parents, and students.
  10. Write routine reports and correspondence
  11. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  12. Work closely with school administration to assess school needs to develop programming that is specific to those identified needs.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: KHDD INTAKE SPECIALIST

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DIRECTOR

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL TIME

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience in working with difficult people, possess strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with varying databases. Excellent writing and communications skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.  Demonstrate strong sense of empathy and ability to connect and relate well with others.  Must be willing to travel and work evenings/weekends.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Exhibit courtesy, professionalism, and positive regard at all times with clients, staff, and the public.
  • Provide and organize a safe, supportive learning environment to promote productivity, learning, & growth for clients and general community.
  • Schedule new client appointments and explaining new client policies in a clear and professional manner.
  • Schedule internal referrals and following-up with the referring sources.
  • Responsible for tracking and updating Intake documents.
  • Process all incoming intakes – gathering additional information as needed.
  • Do walk-in intakes as needed- front desk knows to inform intake when walks ins occur- check with front desk on interview/intake room availability.
  • Responsible to maintain services grid up to date; have working knowledge of all services, providers and staff.
  • Inform clients about Kanza Human Development Division (KHDD) services available.
  • Assist clients and staff with transferring between providers as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping records of internal referrals and transfers.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional meetings, conferences, training, workshops to maintain and improve professional competence, as well as meetings with other programs that service our target population.

 TITLE: KHDD FAMILY UNIT SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

An associate degree in education, sociology or related field is preferred; however, a minimum of two years college and work experience may be substituted. Preference given to candidates with a credential or certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or a related field. Applicant should possess computer competency in Microsoft applications, organizational and office skills, and case management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the design and implementation of policy and practices that align with Kansas Child Care Licensing regulations for enrollment of children.
  2. Assist in the design and implementation of enrollment policy and practices that align with the Kanza Learning Center Program regulations.
  3. Assist in the design and implementation of documentation practices that maximize program reporting capabilities while minimizing parent repetition in completing paperwork.
  4. Participate in the development and implementation of parent and family engagement strategies that support family well-being and promote children’s learning and development.
  5. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized family partnership services.
  6. Through motivational interviewing, establishes meaningful relationships with parents/guardians and children.
  7. Respond to urgent needs for family basic resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and personal safety through referral and warm handoffs with staff or volunteers in area resource organizations.
  8. Work cooperatively with program staff to engage families in responding to their child’s individual health and educational plan.
  9. Plans and conducts monthly contact with families to support the adult family members in establishing and achieving their goals.
  10. Work cooperatively with community resource providers, as approved by the parent/guardian, to support shared family goals across multiple programs for the maximum benefit of the child and family.

Three years of closely related experience may be substituted for the requirement of a bachelor’s degree. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or related field. Experience as a legal advocate is highly desirable. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of family violence issues, ability to balance cultural issues with victim needs, long range planning skills, and capability of handling administrative duties. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for implementing all aspects of the proposed project, including Intervention, Treatment and Response strategies, including offering professional trainings on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence.
  2. Primary responsibility for answering the Crisis Line Calls and crisis intervention in emergent cases.
  3. Work with area agencies to develop policy and procedures and develop referral sources and advocate services for victims.
  4. Oversee Volunteers and coordinate Volunteer efforts as needed to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  5. Responsible for completing all required reports and grant documents, including budgets and financials.


KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Transportation Department Administrative Assistant

Qualifications:

Educational requirements include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field.  At least (5) years of experience at the level required for the position may be substituted for educational requirements. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate technical writing abilities. Must have at least three (3) years exhibited familiarity with federal grant program organization, administration, control, and other management skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical assistance to program director in preparing funding opportunity’s through FHWA and BIA agencies.
  2. Compile cultural, statistical, and economic data for use in preparing proposals, documents, and correspondence.
  3. Assist director with proposals including writing, editing, table of contents, packaging, mailing, copies, preparing attachments and portal management.
  4. Keep current on all pertinent Federal regulations to ensure compliance with proposal or grant requirments
  5. Attend (1 Training per quarter) from the following agencies FHWA, BIA, and TTAP training (4) per year.
  6. Assist in updating 5-year safety plan.
  7. Assist in updating the Long-Range Transportation Plan
  8. Daily activities may consist of working closely with other departments along with all (3) Kay County Commissioner offices to track progress of projects, filling, scanning, excel sheets, data and project records
  9. Attend weekly county commissioner meeting with Transportation Director.
  10. Work with Kay County school districts to maintain and update all school bus routes.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE:   KANZA EARLY CHILD CARE (KECC) CENTER DIRECTOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION (KHDD) DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR:   CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL TIME

LOCATION: NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or Child Development is required. An Associate’s in Child Development (CDA) plus two (2) plus years work experience in an early childhood setting or equivalent education/experience may be substituted.

Must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child development and child care licensing requirements.  Ability to plan, coordinate, and record Kanza Early Child Care Center (KECC) activities; must be proficient in computer application programs.  Ability to effectively communicate and supervise KECC staff.  Ability to develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with parents, caretakers, DHS and other agencies.  Must have knowledge of KNCCP (Kaw Nation Child Care Program) and/or Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing regulations.

Must be able to pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children).  Must possess a valid State of Oklahoma Vehicle Operator’s License and be insurable.  Able to pass a physical examination and CPR/First Aid certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be accountable of the day-to-day operations of the KECC program.
  2. Develop and maintain a program that meets or exceeds DHS requirements as a credentialed child care facility.
  3. Supervise the Master Teachers, Teachers, Volunteers and other KECC personnel. Ensure all staff compliance with requirements.
  4. Appoint and inform the personnel in charge when not present in the facility.
  5. Provides monthly report to CCDF Director of KECC activities and financial transactions.
  6. Conduct direct care duties when necessary.
  7. Register program and maintain information in the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry.
  8. Maintain files and records pertaining to KECC activities.
  9. Maintain positive parent/KECC relationships.
  10. Develop discipline policies, parent manual and staff procedures for KECC.

TITLE: Library Assistant

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Librarian/Library Coordinator

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and/or one (1) year related office and/or administrative experience including clerical and computer skills in a Windows environment is required. Relevant education, training or experience may substitute. Must be proficient in word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and computer literate. Must be able to set priorities, organize coordinate work efficiently, and establish good personal relations with other workers and the public. Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and maintain such status, as well as possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and continue to be insurable.

Responsibilities and Duties:

This position shall provide administrative, clerical and support services to the Kaw Nation Learning Center, its staff and its patrons. Duties shall include the following.

  1. Perform standard daily library duties; preparation and organization of the library materials and periodicals, which includes maintaining proper records for loaned materials, sorting and shelving materials, inspecting and repairing materials if need or when damaged.
  2. Assist and direct library patrons with basic questions and requests, in the use of reference materials and computer assisted research. Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, respond and manage and /or refer as appropriate, inquires and requests from library patrons, the public, media, business contacts, vendors, and representatives from other organizations, as may be necessary.
  3. Administer library programs, policies and procedures, handle inter-library loan requests, prepare invoices, and perform routine coding and cataloging of library materials and retrieve information from computer databases. Loan and collet books, periodicals, videotapes and other library materials to and from library patrons.

TITLE: VICTIM SERVICE INTERN COORDINATOR

  1. Establish and maintain working relationships with area colleges. This includes managing college credits for interns. Responsible for implementing all aspects of the proposed project.
  2. Hire and manage interns. This includes creating intern criteria, hiring interns, project plans, development of educational plan for interns, tutoring, develop policy and procedures, collection data analysis, and manage intern’s working hours and stipend pay
  3. Work closely with Domestic Violence Program Coordinator in case management of clients.
  4. Complete any other duties assigned by the immediate or controlling supervisor

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: TRIBAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS PROJECT COORDINATOR

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR

STATUS:  REGULAR, FULL-TIME

LOCATION: KAW CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associates degree in social sciences or a related field preferred.  Candidate must have experience in advocacy with adults and knowledge of veteran’s affairs/issues, experience navigating the legal field and public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information. Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills including Excel and Word. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Preference given to candidate who has experience in counseling in the areas of veterans, mental health or substance abuse.  Advocacy experience with adults within the justice system highly desirable. Ability to work with legal consultants to complete updates, publication and electronic records storage related to comprehensive court guidelines regarding court procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Assemble a project team to engage in strategic planning to create a tribal action plan regarding alcohol and substance abuse.
  2. Serve as a veteran’s court advocate for the Kaw Nation Tribal court and initiate a coordinated community response initiative for Tribal Native American Veteran’s in Kay County.
  3. Ensure Veteran’s utilizing Kaw Nation courts have legal representation and other needed direct services.
  4. Assist Consultant Attorney and KN Attorney General to unify tribal codes, create electronic court record system and provide publication of Kaw Legal materials.
  5. Confer with Kaw Nation Tribal Council, program directors, law enforcement and court officials concerning veteran benefits, policies and service needs.
  6. Maintain client confidentiality. Develop data tracking system which preserves that confidentiality.
  7. Participate in Court Planning Partner Meetings and other awareness efforts or training events, as needed.
  8. Locate and adapt veteran court related materials for culturally relevant program use.
  9. Assume responsibility for Program activities, goals and objectives, including programmatic reporting, specific record-keeping related to veteran’s court proceedings, report writing, project planning, and related project procedures.

The Kaw Nation Trauma Healing Center has a paid internship opportunity for enrolled undergraduates only for the following areas of study:  Sociology, Psychology and Social Work. KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Janitor

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Human Resources Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chief of Staff

STATUS: Regular, Part time

LOCATION:  Kaw City, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must have the ability to keep at least two (2) buildings clean and in an orderly manner.  Lifting and bending may be involved on a continuous basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Keep each area assigned to clean dusted, vacuumed, and trash emptied.
  2. Wash windows inside and out on a periodic schedule.
  3. Ensures that janitorial/housekeeping supplies are replenished.
  4. Clean and sanitize all bathrooms, keep paper towels and toilet tissue stocked.
  5. Mop and sweep tile floors and wax on an as needed basis.
  6. Water grass, trees, and flower beds during appropriate seasons and keep weeded.
  7. Clean air vents on an as needed basis.
  8. Vacuum all carpeted areas and treat any spots on the carpet.
  9. Keep parking lot policed of paper and debris, etc.
  10. Report any problem that should require knowledge of specific training to repair or correct to Immediate Supervisor.
  11. Assist with/complete any other job duties that might be assigned.

 


KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: DAY CARE TEACHER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CCDF Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: Regular, Full-Time

LOCATION: Newkirk, OK.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, must have or working toward obtaining CDA.  Must have experience working with young children.  Must have or be willing to complete certification in First Aid and CPR.  Must have ability to pass random drug testing requirements throughout employment.  Ability to pass an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check.  Cannot have been convicted of or pled guilty to any of the following:  Child Abuse or Neglect, Possession, Sale or Distribution of an illegal substance, sexual misconduct of any form and Assault and Battery.  Applicant must be willing to gain more knowledge, training, and ed experience in childhood development.

Must be able to pass a background check, adjudication through the Kaw Nation Police Department and a pre-employment drug test.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.  Must be able to pass a physical examination.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time experience in a child care setting.  Child Development Associate (CDA) or Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) or relevant training and experience are preferred.  Applicant must be willing to obtain his/her CDA/CCP.

Must be able to pass a background check, accreditation (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children) and Drug test.  Must possess a valid Drivers License and be insurable.  Must be able to pass a physical examination.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. To act as a specialist in support of the daily interface between clinicians/medical
    staff/dental staff and the electronic health record/electronic dental record.
  2. Assess information in existing RPMS (Resource Patient Management System)
    which includes generating error reports and updating for the maintenance of EHR.
  3. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as the
    liaison between Area Office for implementation purposes.
  4. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the integration of the electronic records system.
  5. Provides training and end-user support to clinical staff emphasizing timeliness, accuracy and the
    importance of security.
  6. Install and configure EHR modules on computer systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrol Kaw Nation land, investigate, enforce, and cite or arrest violators of CFR, Tribal Law, and State and Federal laws and refer to proper authorities.
  • Makes assigned, periodic inspections and patrols of buildings and property.
  • Performs duties assigned by patrol checklist including an examination of all doors, windows, and gates and reports any irregularities to the Police Supervisor.
  • Prepare complete and accurate reports with all of the facts.
  • Report any fire, theft, or other dangerous or irregular occurrences to his/her supervisor.
  • Record and report description(s) of person(s), license tag(s), and automobile(s) of unauthorized person(s) on property.
  • Record and submit an accurate log sheet at the end of the each shift, which in addition to regular duties and irregular occurrences, records temperature and weather conditions.
  • Testify in Tribal, Federal, and State courts when necessary.
  • Serve court documents such as arrests warrants, search warrants, summons, subpoenas, and civil papers.
  • Responds to request(s) for assistance on land under tribal jurisdiction.
  • Provide back-up services when requested to Newkirk City Police and Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Perform any other responsibilities related to Tribal Police as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

TITLE: GRANT WRITER

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational requirements include a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Business, Sociology, or related field.  At least five (5) years of experience at the level required for the position may be substituted for educational requirements.  Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical writing abilities.  Candidate will have demonstrated superior planning process skills and abilities and have a familiarity of Systems Theory and applications.  Candidate will have verifiable success in grant and contract development skills for at least two (2) years with an ability to teach others.  Must have at least three (3) years exhibited familiarity with federal grant program organization, administration, control, and other management skills.  Must also demonstrate an understanding and capabilities in evaluation research and application.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform the primary writing tasks on targeted grant requests and proposals.
  2. Technical writer for grant requests and proposals with assistance from program directors.
  3. Analyze all requirements presented in Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and/or grant applications, research appropriate data sources to develop and write effective proposals, requests written or verbal input from other experts when appropriate.
  4. Develop proposal schedules and outlines to identify all elements required in the proposal and the due dates for input.  Communicate this schedule to everyone responsible for the development , production, approval, and delivery of the proposal.
  5. Keep current on all pertinent Federal regulations to ensure compliance with proposal or grant requirements.  Work with appropriate departments to ensure applicable new policies are developed when necessary to meet new compliance requirements.
  6. When proposals are ready to submit to granting agencies, review the final write-up with appropriate in-house staff.
  7. Develop plans, strategies, and approaches to meet identified tribal community needs with ability to divide responsibilities between different persons while meeting overall time guidelines.
  8. Compile cultural, statistical, historical, and economic data for use in preparing proposals, documents, and correspondence.
  9. Provides technical assistance to program directors in preparing continuation funding or rewriting proposals and supplement requests.
  10. Assist Program Directors in developing surveys and conducting interviews within designated communities in order to establish detailed needs analysis.
  11. Researches federal, state, and other funding agencies regulations for funding sources and ensures that all grant and proposal applications are incompliance with those regulations.
  12. Assist in grant and contract monitoring in the areas of procedure development, documentation, and software spreadsheet development.
  13. Assist with/complete any other job duties that might be assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school and be licensed as a physician in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control to prescribe and administer Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.

At least two (2) years’ experience in general/family practice is preferred.  Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred.  Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice medicine.  Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred.  Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physician is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:

  1. Provide physician services to patients of the Kanza Health Center including physical examinations, perform and/or order diagnostic procedures, interpret and evaluate test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings to identify the presence of disease and/or disability.
  2. Document all patient services and treatment plans in RPMS Electronic Health Records in a timely manner.
  3. Comply with all appropriate requirements for clinic quality assurance and certification.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and manage specific illnesses and disease processes.
  5. Perform minor in-patient procedures consistent with training, competency, and privileges. Oversee patient adherence to medical and nursing regimens for stable chronically ill patients and adjust treatment plans.
  6. Provide supervision for all ambulatory clinic nurses.
  7. Provide medical director services to all components of the Kaw Health System.
  8. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
  9. Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor.
