Sometimes when we are waiting on someone to start a job or just have a vacancy that needs to be filled for a short period of time we need someone to fill in the basic parts of the job.  The Kaw Members who depend on the services of the Kaw Nation sometimes have to wait for the permanent new hires and we want  our tribal members to start the process as soon as possible.

These positions will be short-term and temporary.  Pay rates, days and hours will vary based on the duties of the position.  All available members who would like to do these fill-in positions would have an interview to place them where they are best suited and comfortable working when needs arise.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Wellness Center Attendant/ Group Fitness Leader

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Manager/Assistant Manager

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Kaw Nation Chair

STATUS: Regular, Part Time

LOCATION: Kanza Wellness Center, Newkirk, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of customer service experience is preferred, preferably in the fitness industry. High school diploma/GED equivalent required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Current CPR Certification required. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft office Suite). Superior problem solving skills. A passion for health and fitness.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Provide customer service to patrons, check people into computer, run register, answer the phone, as well as custodial duties. Keep facility clean and in good working order by cleaning machines, counters, floors, windows, bathrooms, locker rooms, exercise rooms and equipment, and a multitude of other as needed duties. Also willing to lead fitness classes such as Aqua Aerobics, Yoga, Pilates, Step, etc, knowledge of weight and cardio equipment, nutrition, and exercise for one-on-one assistance.

TITLE: ADMINISTRATION RECEPTIONIST

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL -TIME

LOCATION: KAW CITY, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma/GED and/or Vocational secretaries training or trade school. Must have proficiency in word processing. Requires demonstrated language and spelling skills and knowledge of efficient office procedures. Experience in multi-phone line system with good communication skills and postage machines is preferred. Experience may be substituted for educational requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Greet clients and visitors with a positive, helpful attitude.
2. Helping maintain workplace security by issuing, checking and collecting badges as necessary and maintaining visitor logs.
3. Answering phones in a professional manner, and routing calls as necessary.
4. Process all incoming/outgoing mail including mail records.
5. Issue GSA and Tribal vehicles keys to employees and maintain mileage log.
6. Record Maintenance request log.
7. Keep the supply closet neat and orderly.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Child Care Development Fund Contact Representative

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CCDF Director

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirement is a minimum of an Associate’s Degree or Child Development Associate Certification (CDA).  One year or more experience working in a childcare facility is preferred.  Must be able to pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children) and drug test.  Must possess a valid driver’s licenses and be insurable.  Must demonstrate computer skills including but not limited to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  Position requires travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for taking applications for CCDF Program assistance and services within the Sedgwick and Cowley Counties of Kansas and Kay County of Oklahoma.
  2. Responsible for outreach, resource and referral services, developing and implementing quality activities to increase and enhance child care services throughout the CCDF service area.
  3. Conduct interviews with parents/guardians to determine eligibility for childcare assistance.
  4. Responsible for provider recruitment, completion, and updating Tribal Child Care provider agreements.
  5. Complete monthly claim forms for payment to childcare providers.
  6. Establish and maintain relationships with childcare service providers in Cowley and Sedgwick Counties in Kansas and Kay County in Oklahoma
  7. Responsible for completing assigned paperwork.
  8. Maintain Client/Center confidentiality.
  9. Assist in keeping the center clean on a daily basis.
  10. Maintain the CCDF minivan. (gas, cleaning, tire maintenance, etc.)
  11. Taking the Mobile Resource room out to the providers monthly.
  12. Check mail at Post office/Clinic daily.
  13. Perform any other work-related duties requested by the CCDF Director or Chair.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE: NURSE PRACTITIONER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KAW WOMEN’S HEALTH PROGRAM MANAGER

STATUS:  Salary, Full-time

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner’s program that meets the Oklahoma State requirements for licensure.  (Master’s degree equivalent in Family or Women’s Health).  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Candidate must have intermediate math skills and problem solving abilities.  The candidate must possess an Oklahoma State Nursing license, National Nurse Practitioner Certification, currently certified in CPR and possess a valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities include providing medical care and treatments according to credentials and privileges either in a clinical setting or through public health services, maintaining records, participating on committees, and upholding ethical standards.

  1. Provides medical care according to credentials held by employee.
  2. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: CHILD CARE MANAGER

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KANZA HUMAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DIRECTOR

LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, with knowledge or experience in developing Child Care, Early Childhood, or Head Start programs. Has worked with Oklahoma State Department of Human Services with knowledge in obtaining a Childcare provider contract and all policies and procedures pertaining to the contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Childcare Manager leads and manages the Childcare center Director in cultivating an environment in which children and their parents can feel safe, secure, and well-educated. Work with Oklahoma State Department of Human Services in obtaining a Childcare provider contract. Plan and develop a Childcare program that will include Early Childhood Education and Head Start services. Produce policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all guidelines and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides executive administration concerning all activities at the Child Care Facility.
  • Conducts monthly meeting with Child Care Director.
  • Sets short- and long-term goals for Child Care Director
  • Provides feedback to the Director concerning the performance of their duties.
  • Conducts interviews and reviews the qualifications of all new staff for the Child Care Center.
  • Supervises the Child Care Director and administrative staff.
  • Writes Policies and Procedures for the Child Care Center.
  • Conducts program evaluation of the Child Care Center.
  • Prepares Department budget and oversees and approves expenditures.
  • Provides feedback to the Director on their performance in managing the Child Care center.
  • Approve orders and purchases teaching materials including toys, videos, books, educational aids, cleaning supplies, food, and first aid supplies.
  • Ensures parents up to date on their child’s progress and development.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills in managing the Child Care Director and Staff.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills in order to communicate with state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Must have strong leadership skills in supervising and managing the Child Care Director, Staff, and program.
  • Knowledgeable about the latest trends and techniques in education and child-rearing, including discipline, encouragement, and communication.
  • Familiarity with theories and practices of behavioral therapy, child development, and parent-child relationships
  • Must have all CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Must pass a background check

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or a degree in a related field preferred. Combination of education and work experience acceptable if work experience includes at least three years of counseling in domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or a related field. Three years of closely related experience may be substituted for the requirement of a bachelor’s degree. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in counseling in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse or related field. Experience as a legal advocate is highly desirable. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of family violence issues, ability to balance cultural issues with victim needs, long range planning skills, and capability of handling administrative duties. Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal speaking and communication skills and possess and understanding of handling personal and confidential information. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for implementing all aspects of the proposed project, including Intervention, Treatment and Response strategies, including offering professional trainings on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence.
  2. Primary responsibility for answering the Crisis Line Calls and crisis intervention in emergent cases.
  3. Work with area agencies to develop policy and procedures and develop referral sources and advocate services for victims.
  4. Oversee Volunteers and coordinate Volunteer efforts as needed to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Must be able to pass a background check, accreditation (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children) and Drug test.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Multipurpose Aide will be responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children placed into his/her care.

  1. The Multipurpose Aide must promote the Kanza Child Care Center (KCCC) in a positive way to parents and the community.
  2. Provide classroom management while main teachers are away.
  3. Doing laundry as needed/keep laundry room clean.
  4. Cover while teachers in absent and /or on break
  5. Maintain client confidentiality.
  6. Attend local, state, regional and national child care meetings/training when deemed appropriate.
  7. Responsible for helping to keep classroom clean.
  8. Help in classrooms when and where needed (1&2 yr. olds, 3&4 yr. olds and infants)

TITLE: BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. At least two (2) years’ experience in medical clinic administration with at least two (2) years supervisory experience required. Must have excellent computer and communication skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises clinic business office employees, which includes reception, data entry staff, billing staff, and dental staff.
  2. Coordinates the facility’s participation in Meaningful Use (MU), the Physicians’ Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and accreditation activities.
  3. Maintains daily transaction records and submits required reports.
  4. Supervises patient registration and scheduling.
  5. Develops and implements clinic policies and procedures related to the business office, health information management, and systems related to the revenue and reporting cycle.
  6. Develops and administers the quality assurance program of the clinic, including medical records and information contained in the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS).
  7. Promotes awareness of data validity and security, and participates in efforts to correct deficiencies and errors.
  8. Attend trainings related to the Business Office, Health Information Management, and RPMS software packages.
  9. Supervises the capture of 3rd party reimbursements to maximize revenue, such as Sooner Care, private insurance, etc.
  10. Assists in the development of program budgets.
  11. Completes any other duties assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OF STAFF

STATUS: REGULAR/FULL-TIME

LOCATION: NEWKIRK, OK

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Registered Nurse with current Oklahoma License. Bachelors Degree with minimum of three (3) years experience required. Computer proficiency required.
  2. Public Health Nurse experience preferred with ability to:
    • Establish goals for home-bound patients
    • Develop training & teaching programs for public & in-home use
    • Provide prevention & public health services under physician protocols
    • Develop and maintain strong rapport with diverse client base
  1. Knowledge of comprehensive health programs and the full range of professional public health nursing principles, standards, practices, and procedures.
  2. Knowledge and ability to apply methods and techniques of adult education to stimulate behavioral changes related to good health practices.
  3. Experience in working with Native American people.
  4. Knowledge of drugs and the desired effect in treatment of disease and side-effects.
  5. Knowledge of quality improvement process to improve patient care and facilitate monitoring, evaluation, and program planning.
  6. Knowledge of health record aspects of patient care and an ability to accurately and completely document related clinical data.
  7. Ability to provide supervision, guidance, and instruction to other staff assigned to the Public Health Nursing and Home Health Care Programs.
  8. Ability to operate government, tribal, and private vehicles and maintain current operator’s license.
  9. Current registration as a professional nurse is required for continued employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive public health delivery system including prevention, patient education, immunization, maternal and child health, chronic disease prevention and monitoring, nutrition, home health services, and other related areas.
  2. Diagnose and refer patients as needed. Utilize all possible resources both within the Indian Health Service and the Kaw Nation Health Program and outside of those parameters.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the public health and home health components of the Kaw Nation Health Program.
  4. Responsible for the Kaw Nation Diabetic Grant objectives and goals.
  5. Responsible for pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug testing of Kaw Nation employees with referrals to treatment as needed per test results.
  6. Compete any other duties as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Background Investigator

Immediate Supervisor: Chief of Police

Controlling Supervisor: Tribal Chair

Status: Full Time/ Regular

Location: Kaw City, OK

Qualifications: The Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate must be proficient with a computer and possess good communication skills. Candidates must have strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The candidate must possess excellent report writing skills and be familiar with Tribal, Federal and State laws and criminal records. Any applicant with at least one-year prior investigation experience is preferred. The applicant must not have a criminal record and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Other preferred qualifications:  Possess knowledge of the criminal and civil court systems and previous experience searching databases. Previous law enforcement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities: 

  • Reviews completed background interview forms of CFR 25 employees with each candidate, checking for inconsistencies, errors, omissions, falsifications and minimum requirements to ensure accuracy and completion before beginning initial candidate interview.
  • Obtains and reviews records from Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and State, Tribal and Municipal law enforcement records, where candidate has resided to determine if candidate was a witness, victim, suspect or perpetrator of any crime.
  • Obtains and reviews arrest reports, witness statements, and other relevant documents to determine candidate compliance.
  • Obtains and reviews reports from credit reporting agencies in order to evaluate candidate’s financial responsibility.
  • Conducts background investigations by interviewing employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, members of the candidate’s family and personal references.
  • Makes additional inquiries to assist in determining credibility of statements.
  • Observes each person being interviewed for the presence or absence of physical indicators of intoxication, the use of controlled substances, truthfulness, etc.
  • Prepares detailed and complete interview statements for each person being interviewed in order to allow a reviewer to draw reasonable and logical conclusions about the prospective candidates. · Prepares final background investigation package for presentation to supervision and management by organizing all investigative material in accordance with established procedures. · Meets regularly with management and/or candidate in order to keep them apprised of the status of the investigation;
  • Prepares detailed summary of adverse information based upon objective analysis and evaluation of candidate’s background, and interviewee statements, as measured against requirement standards as set forth by the Kaw Nation.

TITLE: School Age Coordinator

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CCDF Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time experience in a child care setting.  Child Development Associate (CDA) or Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) or relevant training and experience are preferred.  Applicant must be willing to obtain his/her CDA/CCP.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Age Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children placed into his/her care.  The School Age Coordinator must promote the Kanza Child Care Center (KCCC) in a positive way to parents and the community.

  1. To act as a specialist in support of the daily interface between clinicians/medical
    staff/dental staff and the electronic health record/electronic dental record.
  2. Assess information in existing RPMS (Resource Patient Management System)
    which includes generating error reports and updating for the maintenance of EHR.
  3. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as the
    liaison between Area Office for implementation purposes.
  4. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the integration of the electronic records system.
  5. Provides training and end-user support to clinical staff emphasizing timeliness, accuracy and the
    importance of security.
  6. Install and configure EHR modules on computer systems.
  7. Provide problem resolution with ongoing utilization.
  8. Promotes awareness of data validity and security and participates in efforts to correct deficiencies and errors.
  9. Ensure the quality of medical records by verifying their completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems.
  10. Submit required reporting to IHS Area Office and CMS on Meaningful Use, GPRA, and/or MACRA, as applicable.
  11. Maintain professional relationships with clients, staff, management, tribal departments and other external partners to enhance and promote the effective and efficient use of the clinical software package.
  12. Attend all trainings related to Electronic Health Records and related software packages and other training as identified.
  13. Complete any other duties assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a valid Driver License.  BIA and/or CLEET Law Enforcement Certification preferred.  Each officer should possess good communication skills and be in good physical condition.  Weekend and nights required.  Officers can not have a criminal background.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrol Kaw Nation land, investigate, enforce, and cite or arrest violators of CFR, Tribal Law, and State and Federal laws and refer to proper authorities.
  • Makes assigned, periodic inspections and patrols of buildings and property.
  • Performs duties assigned by patrol checklist including an examination of all doors, windows, and gates and reports any irregularities to the Police Supervisor.
  • Prepare complete and accurate reports with all of the facts.
  • Report any fire, theft, or other dangerous or irregular occurrences to his/her supervisor.
  • Record and report description(s) of person(s), license tag(s), and automobile(s) of unauthorized person(s) on property.
  • Record and submit an accurate log sheet at the end of the each shift, which in addition to regular duties and irregular occurrences, records temperature and weather conditions.
  • Testify in Tribal, Federal, and State courts when necessary.
  • Serve court documents such as arrests warrants, search warrants, summons, subpoenas, and civil papers.
  • Responds to request(s) for assistance on land under tribal jurisdiction.
  • Provide back-up services when requested to Newkirk City Police and Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Perform any other responsibilities related to Tribal Police as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.

TITLE: PHYSICIAN

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school and be licensed as a physician in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control to prescribe and administer Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.

At least two (2) years’ experience in general/family practice is preferred.  Experience providing healthcare to Native Americans preferred.  Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice medicine.  Experience with computerized medical records systems preferred.  Computer literacy required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physician is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the medical team:

  1. Provide physician services to patients of the Kanza Health Center including physical examinations, perform and/or order diagnostic procedures, interpret and evaluate test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings to identify the presence of disease and/or disability.
  2. Document all patient services and treatment plans in RPMS Electronic Health Records in a timely manner.
  3. Comply with all appropriate requirements for clinic quality assurance and certification.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and manage specific illnesses and disease processes.
  5. Perform minor in-patient procedures consistent with training, competency, and privileges. Oversee patient adherence to medical and nursing regimens for stable chronically ill patients and adjust treatment plans.
  6. Provide supervision for all ambulatory clinic nurses.
  7. Provide medical director services to all components of the Kaw Health System.
  8. Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
  9. Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor.
